 August 13, 2024

Board Members in Attendance:  Paul Goldberg, Pamela Martinson, Wayne Brock, Dan Madsen & Diane Kohls

Board Members Excused:  None

Others in Attendance:  Chris Ferkey and Ralph Hamel

Call to Order:  Chairman, Paul Goldberg, called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.

Approval of Clerks Minutes:   The minutes from the July 9. 2024 meeting were read.  A motion was made by Wayne, seconded by Dan, to approve the minutes.  Motion carried.

Expenditures and Treasurer Reports:  A motion was made by Dan, seconded by Wayne, to approve the expenditures and Treasurer reports.  Motion carried.

Correspondence:  Diane received a building permit from Dupee/Ledden for a new shed.  Received a pre-buy from Allied.  Paul received a call from Highway HH saying that there were dogs running on the road.  There was a concern about the chip sealing on Oak Road.  Scott’s said that putting a load of sand on the road should make it better.  Scott’s will pay for that load of sand.  Received a mailing about plat books and wall maps.  Diane will pick up a plat book from the bank and will order a 3×3 wall map for $99.  Received a flash drive with information about the work that ATC will be doing.

Road and Maintenance Concerns:  Johnson Lane is done.  The overlay on North Road is almost done.  Dust control was done on Poplar and Apple.  The approach to the bridge on Spruce was fixed.  A stop sign was replaced on the corner of Maplewood and Jackson.  Paul ordered some more BNI signs.

Building Maintenance:  Mitch Holtz put sweeps on the doors and fixed the door seal on the overhead door.

Board Wages:  Paul contacted all of the towns in the area and received many responses.  The town will look at what was compiled and come up with fair wages for the board.

Banking Update:  Pam went to Prevail and Members Advantage to check rates.  The rates were better but one of the banks doesn’t offer a credit card.  Diane and Pam will check with US Bank and Connexus to see what their rates are.

Pay current bills:  A motion was made by Wayne, seconded by Dan, to pay the current bills.  Motion carried.

Old Business:  Sankey’s only put up a few boards, so Paul will instruct Dave Hamel that he may finish the fence and Sankey’s will be responsible for paying for it.  If they don’t pay him for it then it will be put on their taxes.  The local WTA meeting that we hosted went well and Paul has a thank you for the board to sign to send to Travis Marti.

New Business:  Paul and Wayne will take a look at some used plow trucks to see if they would be a good fit instead of purchasing a new plow truck.  They will check into leasing to see if that would be an option.  Wood County would like to borrow our shouldering machine to see how it works.

r

Public Input:  Ralph Hamel wanted to talk about the ditch mowing.  He did not think residents should be able to opt out of ditch mowing especially if they have noxious weeds.  He also said that when dust control is done on the gravel roads that we should be doing the entire road, not just in front of the residences.

Next agenda items:  Board Wages, CD/Banking Update, Plow truck update, LP Prebuy, Preliminary Budget Numbers

Next meeting date:  September 10, 2024 @ 7:00 p.m.

Adjournment:  A motion was made by Dan, seconded by Wayne, to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned by Chairman, Paul Goldberg, at 7:14 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted by Diane Kohls, Clerk, Town of Hansen
