TOWN OF HANSEN MEETING MINUTES

Board Members in Attendance: Paul Goldberg, Pamela Martinson, Wayne Brock, Dan Madsen, and Diane Kohls
Board Members Excused: None
Others in Attendance: Jennifer Zima, Chris Ferkey, Bob Cline, Ruth Cline, Scott Brehm and Bill Winch
Call to Order: Chairman, Paul Goldberg, called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Jennifer Zima Assistant DA: Jennifer Zima let us know that the current DA is not running in the next election. She is running as a Republican and has worked in that office for a number of years so she has experience doing a very similar job.
Approval of Clerks Minutes: The minutes from the April 16, 2024 meeting were read. A motion was made by Dan, seconded by Wayne, to approve the minutes. Motion carried.
Expenditures and Treasurer Reports: A motion was made by Wayne, seconded by Dan, to approve the expenditures and Treasurer reports. Motion carried.
Correspondence: None
Road and Maintenance Concerns/Brushcutting: JJ’s Brushcutting gave a bid to mow the ditches in June and September for a total of $8768. A motion was made by Dan, seconded by Wayne, to have them mow the ditches. Motion carried. Scott’s gave a bid for the chip sealing on Young Road. It is $6698 to chip seal and $1350 to crack fill. They said it would be more to use material from the Cepress pit. They also quoted $2800 for a double chip seal on Ruesch Road. Scott’s also gave a bid to crack fill North road from Jackson Road to C for $15,340. A motion was made by Dan, seconded by Wayne, to do Young and Ruesch Roads with the material from the Cepress pit and crack fill North Road. Motion carried. Kolo Trucking said that they could put road base on Maplewood, Poplar, and Johnson for around $13,300. A motion was made by Wayne, seconded by Dan, to have Kolo put road base on those roads. Motion carried.
Road Bids: Due to the fact that we are doing so much other work this year, we do not need to bid out any other road work.
Poll Worker Wages: A motion was made by Dan, seconded by Wayne, to increase the poll worker wages to $13 per hour. Motion carried. Diane let the poll workers know that they were given a raise.
Board Wages: Paul presented what he feels the board should be paid. If anyone has any other ideas of what each position should be paid they can bring it to the next meeting. A decision should be made in the next few months so it can be budgeted for next year. The raise will not go into effect until the next term in April.
Pay current bills: A motion was made by Dan, seconded by Wayne, to pay the current bills. Motion carried.
Old Business: We did not receive any more donations for the WTA meeting but should have enough to cover the food, beverages, and meeting rental. Pam will coordinate the food. JJ’s will be doing $5000 of brush cutting in the fall. Diane has wasted enough of her time on QB online and has decided to cancel and get a refund. She will continue using QB desktop until it is no longer supported.
Public Input: Scott Brehm said that the village is going to annex some property but we will still get the taxes for the next 5 years. He also said that the county board opened up 7 more county roads to ATV/UTV use.

Adjournment: A motion was made by Wayne, seconded by Dan, to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned by Chairman, Paul Goldberg, at 7:54 p.m.
